OPPO has once again turned to Goodix to bring in-display fingerprint recognition to its flagship mobile devices. The two companies have officially revealed that the Goodix optical in-display fingerprint sensor is being featured in OPPO’s Reno4 line of smartphones.
The Reno4 series follows in the footsteps of the Reno3 series, which debuted at the beginning of the year and similarly boasted Goodix’s in-display authentication technology. Both the Reno4 and the Reno3 offer full 5G capabilities, and feature additional products from Goodix’s expanding portfolio of audio solutions. The Reno4 comes with Goodix’s smart amplifier and VoiceExperience solutions, while the Reno3 has capacitive in-ear detection technology that support OPPO’s Enco Free wireless earphones.
Goodix is also providing an AMOLED touch controller for the Reno4. The company previously deployed its in-display fingerprint sensor in the Reno Ace and the OPPO K5.
Of course, OPPO is not the only phone manufacturer that has partnered with Goodix to enable biometric authentication in its devices. vivo recently featured Goodix’s optical in-display fingerprint sensor in its X50 flagship series, and added its in-ear detection solution to its own TWS Neo Earbuds. Huawei and OnePlus have also released mobile devices with Goodix sensors in the past few months.
