A partnership with California-based Helic, Inc. is poised to enhance the technology of Shenzhen-based Goodix. The companies have announced that Goodix has integrated Helic’s VeloceRF, RaptorX, and Exalto solutions into Goodix Design Flow, its analog and RF design platform.
It’s a technically complex business. Attempting to explain the integrations in a statement, Goodix Wireless Technology VP Mohy Abdelgany said Helic’s RaptorX solution enables signal integrity “by providing accurate modeling of the electromagnetic coupling between our different inductive structures to optimize system parameters such as transmit pulling and tuning range.” VeloceRF, meanwhile, helps Goodix “to create and optimize multiple variants of these structures with fast and accurate turn-around.”
Abdelgany did not elaborate on the benefits of Exalto, a suite of “EM parasitic extraction and signoff tools”, according to the companies’ statement. But the bottom line is that these tools should help Goodix to speed up the design process for their biometric solutions, which are gaining an increasingly high profile thanks to pioneering efforts like the in-display fingerprint sensors used in Vivo’s newest flagship smartphone.
The integrations thus suggest that Goodix is looking to ramp up production, which may indicate, in turn, that the company is seeing increasing demand in its biometric solutions. Perhaps there are more smartphones featuring Goodix’s in-display fingerprint sensor tech in the pipeline.
