Market research firm Research and Markets has more good news for the biometrics industry, this time from Germany. Their aptly-named “Law Enforcement Biometrics Market in Germany 2014-2018” report predicts growth of 17.6 percent (CAGR) for the law enforcement biometrics field between 2013 and 2018.
The researchers note that demand for the technology is driven mostly by an increasing desire for better security, and helped along by technology advancements resulting from heavy investment into R&D. That seems to be part of a general trend in security screening as government authorities around the world embrace the possibilities offered by biometric technology, whether they’re law enforcement authorities in a Texas county or federal officials looking to beef up the security of Singapore’s air terminals. It may also reflect a growing concern in Europe about terrorism – an issue that currently has UK authorities keen to get their hands on biometric security technologies.
