GenKey Gets FBI Certification Just in Time for CARTES 2014

Biometric solutions developer GenKey has announced that its fingerprint-scanning technology has now received WSQ certification. The Wavelet Scalar Quantization certification is issued by America’s FBI in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and is basically a measure of accuracy with respect to fingerprint imaging.

The company sought the certification because it opens the door to new markets. Explaining the FBI WSQ certification’s importance, GenKey CEO Michiel van der Veen noted that “customers may increasingly demand it as a requirement for large-scale AFIS applications.”

The sentiment seems accurate given the recent contracts awarded by various law enforcement agencies for fingerprint-scanning and other biometric technologies, and a growing appetite for such technology around the world.

GenKey has announced the certification just in time for the Cartes Secure Connexions 2014 conference in Paris, where the company will be an exhibitor. Billing itself as ‘the Global Event dedicated to Payment, Identification and Mobility,’ Cartes attracts 20,000 visitors from around the world, and will present GenKey with opportunities to show off its FBI-certified technology to a variety of industry players.
