FST Biometrics has teamed up with Genetec to bring its In Motion Identification (IMID) technology to the Genetec Security Center.
Combining facial recognition with behavioral biometrics, FST’s IMID solution has seen numerous access control deployments, allowing for the passive authentication of individuals as they approach entry points. The Genetec Security Center, meanwhile, is an IP security platform; for those Genetec customers who are already taking advantage of it, the FST partnership will now offer them the option of adding biometric security to their existing set-ups, with the system able to send alerts whenever unauthorized entry to a facility is detected.
In a statement announcing the partnership, Genetec Product Marketing Manager Derek Arcuri explained that for Security Center users, the IMID integration means that “credential holders will be able to access restricted areas more conveniently,” while FST CMO Arie Melamed elaborated that subjects can be authenticated by the system “without breaking their stride or slowing down.”
The collaboration marks the second major partnership for Genetec this year, with the company having announced an integration of BioConnect’s platform in January. The company clearly sees value in biometric security, with FST now bringing its own considerable contribution to the table.
