Genesis Motors Wins Plaudits for Biometric, Sensing Technologies

Genesis Motors is celebrating a pair of awards this week from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) in recognition of its ongoing commitment to the implementation of advanced technology in its vehicle lineup.

AJAC presented Genesis with its Best Technical Innovation in 2022 award for the company’s In-Vehicle Fingerprint reader, and its Best Safety Innovation in 2022 award for its Radar Based Rear Occupant Alert system. The two features were evaluated by panel of judges within AJAC that focused on the details and intricacies of new automotive technologies.

Using a radar-based system that detects all motion in the vehicle’s rear seats and cargo area, Genesis’ Radar Based Occupant Alert can sense changes in weight and movement, including nearly imperceptible movements such as the rise in a child’s chest as they sleep in the back seat, or even for a pet in the cargo area. The system will also notify the driver with visual and audible alerts if a person or pet is left in the vehicle.

Genesis’ In-Vehicle Fingerprint Reader allows customers to set up a fingerprint profile that they can then use to load a personalized driver profile. This in turn enables them to instantly adjust vehicle settings unique to their biometric profile with a touch of the car’s built-in fingerprint reader, including mirror and seat position, Heads-Up Display positioning and preferences, radio presets, climate control, and more.

This recognition from AJAC comes only a few months after Genesis confirmed that its new GV60 electric vehicles with come equipped with multimodal biometric authentication in the form of a Fingerprint Authentication System that will be paired with Face Connect facial recognition.
