Giesecke+Devrient Mobile Security (or “G+D”) is planning to launch a new mobile authentication system in Europe and North America, the company has announced.
The Convego Mobile Authentication system is the product of a collaboration with Samsung SDS, leveraging its Nexsign platform to offer a multi-modal biometric authentication solution that supports behavioral, facial, fingerprint, and voice recognition. It’s also FIDO-compliant, attesting to its high degree of security and on-device data storage, and it’s Common Criteria-certified.
Aimed at financial services applications, the Convego solution also has a couple of unique features, including the option to enable authentication using a bank-issued EMV card, and a feature that will automatically blur a screen depicting sensitive information if an unrecognized face is detected in a position where the screen could potentially be viewed.
In its announcement, G+D did not offer a launch date for Convego Mobile Authentication, but indicated that it was working with Samsung SDS to launch it first in Europe, and then in North America. G+D first announced that it was working on a mobile authentication system ahead of Money20/20 Europe earlier this year, promising a solution that would address the new PSD2 regulation.
