Gambling App Embraces Face ID Security, Apple Pay Funding

Sweden-based LeoVegas is bringing Apple Pay and facial recognition to its mobile gambling platform, the company has announced.

The support for Apple Pay will arrive first in the UK, where market regulations and a licensing system are in place to support the integration. In a statement, LeoVegas asserted that 55 percent of its users in the country are iPhone users, suggesting that the Apple Pay support should be a welcome development for a sizeable chunk of end users. The company also asserted that a licensing system slated for implementation in Sweden in 2019 will enable Apple Pay for users in that country, as well.

As for facial recognition, that of course will come by way of the iPhone X’s infrared face scanning system, Face ID. LeoVegas has enabled the system for app login, and of course Apple Pay uses Face ID to confirm payment transactions.

The latter development probably won’t affect quite so many users, given the recent news of the iPhone X’s disappointing sales performance. But it appears likely that Apple will bring Face ID to all of its future mobile devices – at least for the foreseeable future – so more LeoVegas users stand to benefit from the Face ID support down the line.
