Fusion Technology has won a five-year contract, valued at $159.8 million, to support the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) division, the company has announced.
Based in West Virginia, Fusion describes itself as a provider of various digital transformation and cybersecurity solutions, including cloud development, biometric integration, and Agile software development. Certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA), Fusion has been serving the defense and law enforcement communities for 17 years.
Through its new “FBI Agility with SAFe Teams (FAST) Law Enforcement Support Services” contract, Fusion will be defining, building, testing, and delivering software solutions across several important platforms which are essential for law enforcement operations. These platforms include the National Data Exchange (N-DEx), which facilitates the sharing and analysis of criminal justice information; the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) System, a communication platform; Crime Data applications that generate reliable statistics; and the Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP) that centralizes access to Criminal Justice Information Services.
“We are excited to leverage our 17-year commitment to CJIS and the West Virginia GovCon community to establish an innovative, fully remote, national program of software developers, product owners and scrum masters.”
Given Fusion’s broad service offerings, its potential role in deliving biometric integration through the contract would probably involve improving the interfaces and capabilities of FBI systems like the N-DEx, LEEP, and possibly others that interact with biometric databases such as the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system. Although platforms like LEO and Crime Data are primarily used for communication and statistical analysis and may not directly engage with biometric data, Fusion’s integration efforts could help in ensuring that these systems can securely access and use biometric information when necessary, thereby supporting the FBI’s comprehensive law enforcement and security missions.
