Fujitsu Launches Password Replacement Software for Palm Vein Biometrics

Fujitsu has launched a new software solution designed to automatically replace IDs and passwords with the company’s palm vein biometrics on notebook and tablet devices supporting the company’s sensors.

Called AuthConductor Client, the software package supports Active Directory, allowing multiple users to each use their own biometric authentication on a single device. It also allows administrators to review access logs, delivering greater security in enterprise and institutional settings.

The software’s launch comes amid what appears to be an intensifying effort on Fujitsu’s part to promote its palm vein scanning technology, with the company having recently made its pitch to Microsoft enterprise customers in the wake of a new partnership with the tech giant. And with AuthConductor Client launching first in the Australia and New Zealand markets, it may point to a strengthening focus on that region after Fujitsu’s launch of its Biometrics as a Service platform in Australia earlier this month.

Oceania is just the beginning, of course: Fujitsu says it plans to bring AuthConductor Client to Asia and North America by September of this year.
