Fujitsu Gets New F-Pro Distributor in Medical Training Sector

Fujitsu Frontech North America has a new distributor for its F-Pro palm vein scanner: Pittsburgh-based KbPort LLC.

In a statement announcing the arrangement, Fujitsu described its new partner as a “leader in the medical training and teaching community”. As such, the company will combine Fujitsu’s solution with other biometric technologies to enable two-factor authentication for medical students.

The latest addition to Fujitsu’s PalmSecure lineup of palm vein scanning solutions, F-Pro was announced last autumn. Fujitsu has placed a heavy emphasis on the device’s small form factor, but has also upgraded the environmental tolerance and imaging speed of its technology in the product.

Commenting on the solution’s appeal, KbPort LLC CEO Chuck Miller asserting that his company’s use of the F-Pro “ensures that we are protecting the student’s information by using the most advanced tools available to follow the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.” Miller added that the scanner is being combined with recording and debriefing solutions from KbPort’s simulation center platform.

For Fujitsu, the partnership not only establishes a new distribution channel for its F-Pro solution, but offers a promotional opportunity as well, with KbPort preparing to showcase the solution from its booth at the annual International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare next week in Los Angeles.
