Fujitsu is expanding the reach of its Biometrics-as-a-Service platform to Canada, Mexico, and South America.
Fujitsu’s BIOaaS platform was launched in September of last year, and operates on the company’s K5 cloud service. It supports multiple biometric modalities including facial, fingerprint, and voice recognition, as well as the palm vein authentication that has long been Fujitsu’s specialty.
In a statement announcing the service’s expansion, Fujitsu America’s Head of Security, Jason Bradley, framed it as a response to growing demand, asserting that security concerns are taking on “a greater urgency in light of recent high-profile breaches”. Bradley added that Fujitsu is “working on a number of opportunities with clients across the Americas, including Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean for biometric solutions.”
News of the expansion comes soon after Fujitsu’s announcement last month that it would work with Microsoft on enterprise-focused artificial intelligence solutions, another technological area that is currently enjoying a boom in popularity.
