A leading French logistics company has begun testing Zwipe Access biometric cards as part of an initiative to enhance security measures and modernize access control systems. The logistics provider, which operates logistics platforms and transport services across France, has established itself as an innovator in its sector, notably becoming Europe’s first company to implement an urban delivery network powered by electric trucks.
The pilot project represents the latest in a series of high-profile implementations of Zwipe’s biometric access technology. In recent months, a major U.S. social media company and a global luxury fashion leader have also begun testing the technology, demonstrating growing market interest in biometric authentication for facility security.
The logistics company has experienced significant growth in business park development, industrial and tertiary real estate, and packaging solutions. The implementation of biometric access control reflects the increasing security demands in the logistics sector, where protecting valuable assets and maintaining strict access protocols are critical operational requirements.
Zwipe AS, the technology provider for this initiative, specializes in biometric authentication solutions for access control, identification, and payment applications. The company maintains listings on both the Oslo and Stockholm stock exchanges, having expanded its market presence through a dual listing strategy.
“Having access solutions that meet stringent safety and security standards is essential in today’s world,” said Robert Puskaric, President and CEO of Zwipe. “With Zwipe Access, biometric authentication offers a highly secure and reliable method for identity verification. In an era of digital identity, Zwipe Access cards mitigate the risk of unauthorized access while delivering a seamless and intuitive user experience.”
Zwipe’s history spans over a decade since its 2009 founding in Oslo. The company has developed multiple biometric solutions, including Zwipe Pay for payment cards, Zwipe Access for security applications, and Zwipe Open, a Biometric System-on-Card platform. The company currently operates in 12 countries through various subsidiaries, including Zwipe Germany GmbH, Zwipe UK Ltd, and Zwipe Singapore Pte.
In 2022, Zwipe achieved several significant milestones, including obtaining both Visa and Mastercard certification for its payment technology and establishing Zwipe Access as a separate business unit. The company also completed a notable pilot project at Frankfurt International Airport with Fraport AG, demonstrating the technology’s effectiveness in high-security environments.
The expansion into the French logistics sector follows Zwipe’s strategic partnerships in various markets, including a recent distribution agreement in Brazil and collaboration with Schneider Electric’s Security Solutions Group, further establishing the company’s global presence in the biometric access control market.
