Fingerprint Cards is celebrating a big milestone this week with its announcement that its sensors are now being used across 300 different smartphone models.
In a statement, FPC pointed to its 20-year history, asserting that when the company was founded in 1997 one of its goals “was to become the world-leading biometric company” – a goal that FPC says “has again been reaffirmed” with this latest milestone. The 300 smartphones that feature FPC’s technology span 25 different brands, offering some indication of the extensive reach of FPC’s mobile business.
“Hundreds of millions of smartphones and tablets all over the world already rely on Fingerprints’ biometrics solutions and every day there are billions of user interactions with our Touch and Touchless platforms,” the company added.
While Fingerprint Cards has lately sought to expand into new areas like biometric payment cards as it and various competitors have struggled with shrinking margins in the mobile sector, FPC’s mobile business nevertheless continues to be a central pillar of its activities, with the company having announced two new Huawei integrations toward the end of last month.
