Fingerprint Cards (FPC) is extending its partnership with the Beautiful Card Corporation (BCC) of Taiwan. The two companies previously collaborated on a biometric payment card built with FPC’s original T-Shape fingerprint sensor module, and will now be working together to create a new card that features FPC’s T2 second-generation T-Shape offering.
By renewing their partnership, BCC and FPC are also moving one step closer to large-scale commercialization. The two companies will put their heads together to come up with a go-to-market strategy, and are eventually hoping to distribute their joint offering to card issuers all over the world. The new deal covers biometric access control cards in addition to biometric payment cards, while the cards themselves could be shared with other card manufacturers that are part of BCC’s extensive partner network. Those BCC cards will pair the T2 sensor module with the FPC-BEP software platform for biometric authentication.
“We selected the biometric solution from Fingerprints since they have proven biometric performance and efficient power consumption, which is of the highest importance for contactless biometric cards,” said BCC CEO and Chairman Peggy Wu. “Introducing biometric payment cards will offer great benefits for all banks, merchants, and consumers as contactless payments in EMEA are growing fast.”
“This collaboration will enable state of the art biometric payment and access cards globally,” added FPC Payment & Access President Michel Roig. “Enterprises and banks alike will now be able to offer secure and convenient biometric authentication for their payment transactions as well as for physical and logical access applications.”
BCC has also been working with Zwipe to develop payment cards featuring the Zwipe Pay solution. FPC’s T2 product, meanwhile, recently passed Mastercard’s updated anti-spoofing evaluation, a feat that cleared the way for a Letter of Approval for a new MoriX payment card for the Japanese market.
