Fingerprint Cards is getting a new CEO. The company’s Board of Directors has announced that Christian Fredrikson will take the post starting this August, when current CEO Jörgen Lantto will step down.
In a statement announcing the change, the company suggested that FPC’s remarkable growth over the past year, as well as its move beyond the smartphone biometrics market into the areas of smart cards and the Internet of Things, were major changes calling for new leadership. At the same time, Board Chairman Jan Wäreby credited Lantto for leading FPC “in an admirable way,” adding, “With his solid technical skills within the smartphone area he has strongly contributed to developing the company.”
Fredrikson, meanwhile, comes to FPC from a background in Finland, where he held leading positions in Nokia Networks and, most recently, is CEO for online security solutions provider F-Secure. It’s a background that overlaps with the areas in which FPC aims to expand, and based on a foundation of “digitalization and mobile connectivity,” Wäreby said. For his part, Fredrikson said he is “honoured and delighted” to join the company, adding, “It’s fantastic to see what FPC has achieved and I look forward to further strengthen the company, together with the team.”
