“…in addition to the biometric authentication security offered by FPC’s fingerprint sensor, the smartphone also offers ‘encryption of phone calls, messages, WeChat messages amongst others.'”
Fingerprint Cards is celebrating its first sensor integration with an India-based OEM, with Micromax using an FPC1035 sensor in its latest smartphone.
In a statement announcing the integration, FPC Business Line Mobile SVP Ted Hansson called the integration “a very strong sign of Fingerprints’ market position and our ability to expand our global reach,” adding that “India is currently the third largest and the fastest growing smartphone market in the world”.
Hansson stressed the security of the new device, saying that in addition to the biometric authentication security offered by FPC’s fingerprint sensor, the smartphone also offers “encryption of phone calls, messages, WeChat messages amongst others.”
The integration and its expansion of FPC’s mobile business to the India market is an encouraging sign in the wake of the company’s recent announcement that revenues from mobile integrations are expected to dip significantly in the first half of the year. In the long-term, though, the company says it anticipates attaining a 95 percent penetration of its addressable mobile market by the year 2020, with the new Micromax integration pointing to that expansionary path.
