Fingerprint Cards has announced another integration of its biometric technology outside of its usual mobile market: The Kaadas K8 Push Pull door lock features an embedded FPC1020 fingerprint sensor.
Kaadas is relatively new to the physical access scene, having been established in 2013. It is based in Shenzhen, and specializes in door lock solutions, bringing in an annual revenue of between $1 million and $2.5 million, according to a listing on Alibaba.
In a statement announcing the integration, FPC limited its commentary to asserting that the biometric functionality of the K8 door lock ensures “quick access and safe protection of your home.” But the integration appears to reflect FPC’s interest in expanding beyond the mobile market in which it has established a firm leading position. That has lately happened most prominently through integrations in the PC market – in a gaming mouse and a new Microsoft keyboard, for example – but the Kaadas integration suggests FPC is open to expanding on various fronts.
