Fingerprint Cards AB (Fingerprints) and Anonybit have formed a strategic partnership to develop and deliver a new multimodal biometric authentication solution for enterprise customers. The collaboration aims to provide organizations with an alternative to traditional passwords while enhancing cybersecurity measures. The partnership builds on Fingerprints’ recent expansion into enterprise access control with its AllKey platform.
The joint solution, scheduled for release in 2025, will combine Fingerprints’ fingerprint and iris biometric algorithms with Anonybit’s decentralized biometric cloud platform. The integrated system will offer several key capabilities, including passwordless login, account takeover prevention, seamless account recovery, continuous authentication, and secure help desk verification. This development comes as financial institutions report growing concerns about account takeover attacks, with 72 percent identifying it as a significant threat.
“After extensive market research and evaluation of potential partners, we selected Anonybit for their pioneering approach to biometric privacy and security,” said Adam Philpott, CEO of Fingerprint Cards AB. “Anonybit’s decentralized cloud identity lifecycle platform, combined with their proven ability to secure biometric data without compromising performance, allows us to supercharge time-to-market in our strategy.”
“Biometric adoption is accelerating rapidly, and with it comes an urgent need to ensure that privacy and biometric protection are at the forefront,” noted Frances Zelazny, Co-Founder and CEO of Anonybit. “It has always been Anonybit’s mission to enable the industry to meet these critical requirements, and this partnership with Fingerprints validates our approach.” Zelazny has been a prominent voice in the industry, advocating for decentralized approaches to biometric identity.
The solution will use Anonybit’s technology to break down biometric data into anonymized fragments distributed across a multi-cloud environment, eliminating centralized data repositories. This approach addresses both security and privacy concerns while maintaining system performance. The implementation comes at a time when regulatory frameworks for biometric data protection are evolving rapidly across jurisdictions.
Fingerprint Cards brings extensive experience in biometric technology, having introduced its first fingerprint sensor in 2000 and subsequently developing various biometric solutions for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smart cards. The company recently launched its fourth-generation iris recognition platform, demonstrating its continued innovation in multimodal biometrics.
Anonybit, founded in 2020, has developed a patent-pending decentralized framework for secure biometric storage and has raised $8 million in funding to date, with its technology already supporting multiple biometric modalities including iris and voice recognition.
