Forter Adds Skyfire Agent Identity Signals to Checkout Fraud Decisions

Forter has added Skyfire’s agent identity information to its fraud decisions for purchases made by AI assistants. The integration feeds Skyfire’s Know Your Agent protocol data into Forter’s Fraud Management for Agentic Commerce service, alongside the risk information merchants already use at checkout.

The companies say the change helps retailers distinguish authorized agents shopping for customers from malicious automated traffic. Conventional bot controls can flag the automated browsing patterns of legitimate shopping agents, blocking a purchase even when the underlying customer has authorized it. Skyfire provides information about the agent’s identity, while Forter incorporates that information into its transaction assessment.

The integration does not require a change to the merchant’s checkout interface, according to the partners. Agent-related information travels with existing risk data. Forter Chief Technology and Product Officer Eran Vanounou said the combined service is intended to assess both the agent and the trustworthiness of the consumer behind the purchase.

The companies piloted the integration with Jomashop, a Brooklyn-based online seller of luxury watches, jewelry and accessories, where bot management tools had blocked much of the agent traffic. They say the retailer’s agent checkout success rate rose to nearly 100 percent without an increase in chargebacks.

“Our customers are starting to shop through agents, and we didn’t want to be the reason a legitimate purchase was declined,” said Osher Karnowsky, general manager of Jomashop.com. He said the integration helps the retailer understand “who the agent is, who sent it, and whether to trust the transaction.” Forter says agent-initiated orders across its network have risen more than fourfold since August.

Skyfire provides identity and payment infrastructure for AI agents through its open Know Your Agent (KYA) protocol, which covers verified identity for web access and account creation, tokenized cards, micropayments and programmatic checkout. The company has also partnered with Fastly to verify agents at the network edge.

“By integrating Skyfire’s Know Your Agent (KYA) identity directly into Forter’s fraud decisioning, we’re giving merchants the ability to distinguish trusted, authorized agents from malicious bots,” said Craig DeWitt, Skyfire’s co-founder and head of product. Forter, which says nearly 1 million businesses use its services, counts Nordstrom, Instacart and Priceline among its customers.
