Former Intel executive Joe Jensen has been appointed to VSBLTY’s Advisory Board. Jensen spent nearly four decades with Intel before his retirement in January, beginning his career as a Product Engineer and climbing the ladder to become the VP of the Internet of Things (IoT) Group and the General Manager of the Retail, Banking, Hospitality and Education Group.
That experience makes Jensen a natural fit for the VSBLTY Board. At Intel, Jensen spent a full 10 years working directly with other brands and retailers to help them find new ways to improve their customer experiences with Intel technology. He was also a key member of the team that crafted the Store-as-a-Medium concept in collaboration with VSBLTY and The Store-WPP. The three parties detailed the Store-as-a-Medium in a white paper that was published in January (around the time of Jensen’s retirement), and have supplemented that with a free app that shows retailers potential use cases for new digital technologies.
Adding Jensen to the Advisory Board will presumably help VSBLTY increase engagement with its Store-as-a-Medium portfolio. Jensen is already a member of the Board of Directors for the Retail Industry Leaders Association, while VSBLTY itself is planning to showcase the Store-as-a-Medium at a series of conferences in May.
“I started my focus on retail over 10 years ago with the belief that optimized content at point of wait and point of purchase would transform the consumer experience while also bringing new incremental value to brands and retailers,” said Jensen. “This belief matured into the Store as a Medium Channel with VSBLTY, and I am excited to help VSBLTY lead this transformation.”
“We are delighted that Joe has accepted our invitation to join other retail leaders on our Advisory Board,” added VSBLTY Co-founder and CEO Jay Hutton. “He has long been a trusted resource and advisor to both brands and retailers who recognize the value of leveraging technology to advance the interests of the industry.”
Jensen is not the first VSBLTY collaborator to take a more active role with the company. David Roth, the CEO of The Store-WPP, joined the VSBLTY Board of Directors back in March.
