A former Amazon executive is now IDEMIA‘s Chief Digital Product Officer. The company has announced that David Desharnais “will lead IDEMIA’s cloud and digital platform strategy.”
Desharnais joins the global identity company after serving as Amazon Web Services’ Worldwide Industries Group Head & GM, a position he held since July of 2018. Before that, he served as American Express Global Commercial Payments division’s VP and GM of Digital and Commercial Platforms, a position he held from 2015 to 2018; and from 2012 to 2015 he was the VP and Chief Marketing Officer of Traxpay, a payments-focused FinTech firm based in Europe.
Commenting on his appointment in a statement, Desharnais emphasized IDEMIA’s work in sophisticated digital identity and security technologies such as biometrics. “Data security, end-user privacy, and digital identity are categorical imperatives to enabling frictionless global mobility, and establishing trust in the fast-growing digital economy,” he said. “As a world leader in biometrics, identity, and digital security, IDEMIA is at the epicenter of shaping the future of public and private interactions and transactions, and it is an honor to have the opportunity to lead the talented digital solutions and technology teams making this possible.”
France-based IDEMIA says Desharnais will lead a US-based team of digital experts that will be tasked with developing and administering the company’s digital platforms.
“I am confident that David Desharnais’ strong leadership and expertise will be essential, and a driving force in his mission within our Group: taking IDEMIA’s digital solutions and capabilities to the next level, helping to shape our Business Unit strategies, and creating new breakthrough digital products and solutions,” said IDEMIA CEO Yann Delabrière.
