Flooid has released a new Flooid App Suite that was designed as a comprehensive checkout and payments solution for virtually any retail environment. The App Suite provides technology for everything from mobile and in-store POS to follow-me baskets and self-checkout, and was unveiled at this week’s NRF 2020 event in New York.
The various offerings were realized through collaboration with a slew of different corporate partners, including IBM, Verifone, SUSE, Tecsys, and NEC. Of those, IBM is perhaps the most notable, with the IBM Store in the Cloud serving as the foundation for Flooid across multiple retail channels to improve store interoperability.
“IBM and Flooid have partnered to provide a digital store platform for today that scales and enables creative new channels for tomorrow,” said IBM Global Consumer Industry Director Colm O’Brien.
The Verifone partnership will enable secure transactions, while SUSE’s open-source software will make it easier to integrate new solutions as technology continues to improve. Flooid will also offer biometric authentication courtesy of NEC, which will be providing facial recognition capabilities for employees and customers alike.
NEC’s algorithm has previously achieved a top score in NIST testing, and has been deployed for airport security and identity verification at ATMs. The company is currently preparing to launch a facial recognition program for Star Alliance frequent flyers in the first quarter of the year.
