Fingerprint sensor company IDEX ASA has recently teamed up with Flextronics in order to allow for biometric security on the latter’s Open Innovation Platform.
The partnership, which was announced last week on IDEX’s website, will see the biometric company providing Flextronics with both swipe and touch fingerprint sensors.
Anita Ganti, Flextronics’s vice president of global technology says that the company recognizes that biometric technology is an important security measure in the current marketplace.
“We see great value in partnering with IDEX to further expand our Open Innovation Platform and provide our valued customers with innovative technology solutions,” said Ganti.
IDEX is now the first fingerprint sensor provider added to the Open Innovation platform, according to the sensor company’s CEO Dr. Hemant Mardia.
He explains: “Given the high interest in fingerprint sensors in the marketplace, the timing of the partnership is ideal and we believe that IDEX will be able to further expand its customer distribution as a result of this partnership.”
FindBiometrics has previously reported on IDEX, a company distinguished by its low cost high performance fingerprint sensors. Earlier this year, IDEX and BIO-key International entered into a license agreement. Said deal has seen BIO-key’s fingerprint identification solutions, along with its mobile authentication and identity assurance technology, combined with IDEX’s capacitive fingerprint sensors in the name of providing an end to end strong authentication product that promises to meet the growing demand for mobile biometrics.
