Flexible Fingerprint Sensors to Take Focus at Trustech

IDEX is going to show off its flexible fingerprint sensor technology for smart cards at next week’s Trustech 2016 expo in Cannes.

It’s technology that IDEX has been pursuing together with Safran Identity & Security, with IDEX offering up the biometric sensors while Safran provides the card technology. At Trustech, it will be demonstrated in an ISO-ID1 smart card, and IDEX CEO Dr. Hemant Mardia will deliver a presentation on the technology.

IDEX won’t be alone in showing off such technology, however. NEXT Biometrics has also been zeroing in on flexible sensor technology for smart cards, and has itself announced plans to demonstrate its technology at Trustech.

For its part, IDEX says its off-chip technology allows the sensor “to get the best biometrics within power and size constraints for cards and IoT applications.” And IDEX has lately described increasing interest in the company from the financial market, which could translate to more buzz at Trustech next week.
