Fiserv Launches Biometric Self-Serve Kiosk for Banks

Fresh off its announcement that a Pennsylvania-based Federal Credit Union has deployed its Verifast biometric authentication solutions, Fiserv has announced a new product offering aimed at financial services organizations: the Interactive Branch Kiosk.

It’s a self-service system for bank customers that can be deployed in a lobby or even in a drive-thru setup, enabling end users to check balances, make withdrawals, transfer funds, and more. And, of course, it supports Fiserv’s Verifast palm vein authentication technology, allowing for highly efficient and secure customer verification.

Fiserv appears to be aiming broadly with its new Interactive Branch Kiosk solution, emphasizing that it can be integrated directly into a bank’s or credit union’s core account processing platform. The organization has also enabled support for authentication based on card-and-PIN or username-and-password for the Interactive Branch Kiosk, presumably to ensure that it’s still a viable option for potential clients that have not implemented biometric authentication systems based on palm vein scanning.

In any case, Fiserv has already won over at least one client with its new solution, thanks at least in part to its use of biometric security. Commenting in a statement announcing the Interactive Branch Kiosk, Members Cooperative Credit Union’s technology VP, Andy Joneson, attested, “Offering a comprehensive self-service option saves our members time, and the integration of Verifast for biometric authentication gives members the peace of mind that only they can access their accounts.”
