The first keynote speaker for this year’s Money20/20 USA event has been announced: Morgan Stanley’s Naureen Hassan.
As the investment bank’s Chief Digital Officer, Hassan is in a strong position to delve into the impact that artificial intelligence is having on the financial services sector. In announcing her keynote session, Money20/20 organizers explained that Hassan’s talk will “help separate the signal from the noise in the future of financial advice” and “explain how AI is super-charging the advisor-client relationship”.
She’ll also discuss the issue of whether AI systems can replace human advisors – and whether they should. It’s an interesting question, given the current state of AI: One system recently developed on a Google platform is able to tell which specific ramen shop a given bowl of broth has come from, a kind of food-focused version of biometric identification. But its creator isn’t sure how it works – is the system looking at the bowls being used? The cut of meat? Computer vision is very different from human vision, and that could pose advantages and some considerable risks when applied to financial decisions.
Registration for Money20/20 is open now, and those who sign up by Friday can save $750. The event itself is slated to run from October 21st to 24th in Las Vegas.
