NEXT Biometrics fingerprint sensor technology will be incorporated into a new smart card from First Biometrics, the company has announced. The solution will used NEXT Biometrics’ large area flexible sensor technology.
In a statement announcing the agreement, NEXT Biometrics CEO Ritu Favre explained that the biometric smart cards would initially be used in casinos. Favre added that the technology will later “reach a broader range of markets.”
Explaining his company’s selection of NEXT Biometrics technology, First Biometrics CEO Charles Gomez called it “the most highly-secure, reliably accurate and cost-efficient sensor to achieve our objective of offering our clients and their customers the most secure card ever available.”
NEXT Biometrics announced that its flexible fingerprint sensors were ready for mass production at the start of this summer, thanks to a partnership established last year with Taiwan-based manufacturer Innolux. The company has indicated that it sees the sensors and their smart card applications as an important part of its business activities going forward.
