The new year has just started, and the biometrics industry is back in full swing, judging by this week’s roundup of FindBiometrics top stories from the past week. And it’s a roundup dominated by news from the financial services sector, with a strong focus on payments technology.
That’s apropos, given some of the results from the 2019 FindBiometrics Year in Review, the results of which have now been tabulated. Our first in-depth look at the results tackled the question of which application area for biometric technology was the most interesting in 2019, and financial services came through as the clear winner. Not only did it retain the top spot after last year’s results, but it consolidated its lead by taking an even greater share of the vote:

Meanwhile, a typing analytics-based behavioral biometrics platform that offers considerable appeal to organizations in the financial services sector has also generated substantial interest among investors, with TypingDNA bringing in $7 million in a Series A funding round:
