“News of the latest integrations comes as Fingerprint Cards continues to promote its forthcoming FPC1511 fingerprint sensor.”
Fingerprint Cards‘ biometric technology is being used in two new smartphones, the company has announced: Moto’s Z3, which features an FPC1145 fingerprint sensor; and Xiaomi’s POCO F1, featuring an FPC1291 sensor model.
Both companies are repeat customers of FPC. The Z3’s predecessor, the Z3 Play, also featured an FPC1145 fingerprint sensor, and was launched earlier this year. Xiaomi, meanwhile, most recently used an FPC fingerprint sensor in its Redmi 6 device.
In announcing the integrations, Fingerprint Cards also noted a third, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2. FPC first announced that Smartisan’s device would use its FPC1272 sensor last November.
“We are very proud to provide world class biometrics for these new and cool smartphones,” the company said.
News of the latest integrations comes as Fingerprint Cards continues to promote its forthcoming FPC1511 fingerprint sensor. With average selling prices declining in the now-saturated mobile fingerprint sensor market, FPC has designed the FPC1511 to be its most low-cost offering yet, and expects commercial device launches featuring the sensor to occur later this year or in early 2019.
