Fingerprint Cards has established another potentially important biometric cards partnership in the Indian market – its second this week.
This time, the company has teamed up with Mswipe, which FPC described in a statement as “one of India’s leading end-to-end digital enablers for SMEs”. Founded in 2011, is a provider of Point-of-Sale solutions, including terminals capable of accepting not only cards but also NFC and QR code-based payment mechanisms.
According to FPC, Mswipe is “India’s largest independent mobile POS merchant acquirer & network provider,” and the firm will promote Fingerprints’ biometric technology to about 100,000 existing customers.
More specifically, Mswipe will add FPC’s biometric payment card technology to its solutions portfolio, helping to bring more biometric debit and credit cards into the enormous Indian market.
“With the wide partner portfolio secured by Mswipe, we truly believe adding biometric solutions to their product range will add convenience and easy payments for merchants and consumers in the region,” explained Fingerprints’ President of Payments & Access, Michel Roig. “Contactless and digital payments are growing fast in India, as consumers are choosing touch-free, safe and seamless ways to pay.”
Roig’s upbeat outlook on the Indian market makes sense, given that the Mswipe announcement arrives on the heel’s of the news that Transcorp, a major India-based financial services firm, would integrate FPC’s T-Shape fingerprint sensor into a payment card solution that will target over a million of its customers.
Roig heads the payments and access control-focused subsidiary of Fingerprint Cards, dubbed “Fingerprint Cards Switzerland“, while the other subsidiary, “Fingerprint Technology Company”, is focused on mobile integrations of FPC’s biometric technology.
As for Mswipe, the company’s founder and CEO, Manish Patel, highlighted the technological sophistication of FPC’s biometric card technology.
“It offers proven biometric performance and the lowest power consumption, features which are of the highest importance for contactless biometric cards,” he said. “Introducing biometric payment cards offers great benefits for our merchants and consumers alike, as contactless payments in India to continue to grow quickly.”
