Fingerprint Cards Reports 30 Percent Revenue Growth Ahead of Precise Biometrics Merger

Fingerprint Cards AB has reported fiscal year 2025 revenue of SEK 78.2 million, a 30 percent increase year-over-year and 40 percent in constant currency terms, in what represents the company’s final full-year results before its planned merger with Precise Biometrics takes effect.

Gross margin for the year reached 60.7 percent, and the company narrowed its EBITDA loss to SEK 19.1 million from SEK 186 million in the prior year. The improvement reflects a multi-year restructuring that has included workforce reductions, product line rationalization, and a pivot toward higher-margin biometric system-in-package solutions sold to access control and security token manufacturers.

The AllKey biometric system-in-package platform, which combines a fingerprint sensor, biometric processor, on-board template storage, and match-on-chip software in a single module, is gaining traction across access control, FIDO security tokens, and smart lock applications. The company has said AllKey represents a strategic shift from selling discrete sensor components to offering integrated biometric modules that handle enrollment, matching, and secure template storage in one package.

Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics received shareholder approval for their merger plan earlier this year. The combined entity aims to create a broader biometric technology company with capabilities spanning fingerprint sensors, matching algorithms, and software for both physical and digital access control. Precise Biometrics brings fingerprint algorithm expertise and facial recognition software to the merged company.

The reduction of the EBITDA loss from SEK 186 million to SEK 19.1 million reflects deep cost cuts and a shift in revenue mix toward higher-margin products. The company had previously undertaken a rights issue to stabilize its finances during the downturn in the biometric sensor market that followed a period of oversupply and pricing pressure in the smartphone fingerprint sensor segment.

Revenue growth in constant currency outpaced reported growth due to the weakening of the Swedish krona against the U.S. dollar, as a significant portion of the company’s sales are denominated in dollars. The company said the AllKey platform and its partnerships with FIDO security token manufacturers drove the majority of the year’s revenue gains.
