Fime has acquired cybersecurity specialist Red Alert Labs, adding security evaluation, certification expertise and compliance automation to its testing services for payments, mobility and digital identity.
The acquisition brings Red Alert Labs’ technical teams and CyberPass platform into Fime’s business. CyberPass helps organizations automate cybersecurity compliance work, while the laboratory evaluates the security of products and systems.
Red Alert Labs will retain its existing accredited evaluation scope, including ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and work under the European Union’s Common Criteria cybersecurity certification scheme, known as EUCC, at the substantial assurance level. ISO/IEC 17025 sets requirements for the competence and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories.
The companies say the laboratory’s technical autonomy, impartiality and independent evaluation processes will remain in place. CyberPass will continue to operate outside the accredited evaluation function, maintaining a separation between compliance-support software and the laboratory’s assessment work.
Existing customer contracts and evaluation commitments remain unchanged. Organizations already working with Red Alert Labs can continue their projects under the current arrangements while gaining access to Fime’s wider services.
Red Alert Labs founder and managing director Roland Atoui will lead Fime’s global security business. Fime chief executive Lionel Grosclaude said the acquisition supports the company’s expansion as a provider of digital trust services, combining its established testing capabilities with cybersecurity assurance.
Fime already operates certification programs for identity credentials. Its mobile driver’s license certification scheme covers in-person and remote presentation under the ISO/IEC 18013 standards, with governance that separates testing from certification decisions.
The company also participated in the initiative making core mobile identity standards free to read. That project gives implementers read-only access to standards used in mobile credentials through a dedicated DIN portal, supported by ISO and industry partners.
Red Alert Labs adds cybersecurity assessment to those identity and transaction-testing services. The combined business can support customers preparing products for security evaluation while retaining the laboratory controls governing accredited assessments. Fime says the expanded security business will serve customers across its international network, covering connected devices as well as digital services. CyberPass supplies a separate route for managing compliance tasks as customers develop and maintain their products.
