FEITIAN has received FIDO Biometric Component Certification for a biometric security key that features a fingerprint sensor from Fingerprint Cards (FPC). The FEITIAN Biometric FIDO Security Key is the first biometric-backed hardware authenticator to receive the distinction, which extends to the FPC sensor in addition to the key itself.
In that regard, FPC noted that the Component certification is required for companies looking to reach level 3 (or above) in the FIDO Certified Authenticator program. The news indicates that FPC’s hardware and software now meet that authentication standard, providing equipment manufacturers with a fingerprint solution that delivers a strong performance even with limited processing power.
“This is an important certification that shows the strength of our end to end solution, serving the need for secure authentication for logical access,” said FPC Payment and Access SVP Michel Roig. “We appreciate the collaboration with our partner FEITIAN.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with Fingerprints, which has the leading full biometric system solution on the market,” added FEITIAN VP Yan Yan. “Our certified FIDO hardware security key is a testament of the strength of our joint solution.”
FIME was accredited to test products for FIDO’s Biometric Component Certification Program in January of 2020. FEITIAN itself has been working with FPC for several years. The company previously placed FPC’s original T-shape sensor in its AllinPass K33s security token in 2019, and later licensed the FPC-BEP software for use in a biometric payment card.
