FaceTec Upgrades Renowned Biometric Face Authentication System

FaceTec has made one of the world’s best selfie-based authentication systems even better, announcing version eight of its ZoOm solution, which users can try for free as a demo via links on the company’s website.

ZoOm is one of a growing number of authentication systems that revolves around the use of facial recognition for authentication. What makes it stand out is its ability to take 3D face scans using the two-dimensional cameras that are ubiquitous on smartphones, laptops and other computer devices.

But FaceTec’s ZoOm is particularly notable for its highly advanced liveness detection capability, which can detect spoofing attempts aimed at mimicking valid user biometrics. ZoOm became the first authentication solution in the world to attain Level 1 certification in the iBeta Presentation Attack Detection test in 2018 – fending off 100 percent of all spoofing attacks – and went on to reach Level 2 certification near the start of this year.

Now, ZoOm’s upgrade to version eight makes the platform even better. FaceTec says its new Identity Check feature can instantly match users to their photo ID, establishing an automated, reliable means of identity verification. Meanwhile, an Age Estimation tool can more reliably estimate the ages of end users than a human can, enabling anonymous age-gating for restricted products. ZoOm 8 also features an upgraded user interface designed to more easily guide the end user through the authentication process.

It’s a substantial upgrade, and one that should help to elevate FaceTec’s profile even higher in the growing digital authentication market.
