FaceTec has appointed Faith Contreras as its new Director of Government Outreach, marking a strategic move to strengthen the company’s engagement with public sector entities. Contreras brings over 30 years of experience from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), where she played a pivotal role in implementing and managing the state’s facial recognition programs.
Extensive Experience in Government and Law Enforcement Collaboration
During her tenure at ADOT’s Office of Inspector General, Enforcement and Compliance Division, Contreras served as the Facial Recognition Program Administrator since 2013. She was instrumental in launching the Driver License Security Program and collaborated closely with the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s multi-agency Forensic Images Unit. Her efforts contributed to the successful use of facial recognition technology in various law enforcement applications, including solving complex identity theft cases.
Contreras’s responsibilities encompassed aligning objectives with the Facial Recognition Unit’s standards, supervising training, managing hiring processes, and conducting critical criminal history searches. Her expertise in managing sensitive information and coordinating with law enforcement agencies underscores her capability to navigate the complexities of government operations and public safety initiatives.
Advancing FaceTec’s Public Sector Initiatives
In her new role at FaceTec, Contreras will focus on promoting and managing the company’s deployments into major public sector identity-issuing authorities. This should add further momentum to FaceTec’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence in the digital identity market, particularly within government agencies adopting advanced biometric solutions for identity verification.
“Faith’s insight from her years of front-line experience will help us deliver the most value to the agencies that adopt the UR Code protocol in state and federal governments, providing guidance and education about their broad applications and benefits, and of FaceTec’s 3D Liveness and 3D Face matching software, the world-leading, state-of-the-art solution in digital identity verification,” commented CEO Kevin Alan Tussy.
FaceTec has recently introduced significant technological advancements, including a major cryptographic upgrade to its UR Code solution and the launch of its Scan+Match app for identity verification. The UR Code protocol now supports a second public-key cryptography algorithm based on the mathematics of elliptic curves, Ed25519, enhancing the security and efficiency of biometric data encoding and verification. The Scan+Match app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, allows users to scan, validate, and match a UR Code against its bearer, facilitating secure and accessible identity verification processes.
Contreras’s extensive experience in law enforcement coordination, compliance, and facial recognition program administration positions her to strengthen FaceTec’s relationships with government agencies. Her appointment is particularly significant as government entities increasingly seek robust and secure biometric solutions to enhance identity verification processes and combat identity fraud.
