Facephi’s identity-verification service has been certified against the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework’s Verified Person component at level of assurance 2, known as LOA2. The Digital ID and Authentication Council of Canada, or DIACC, says an independent third-party audit preceded the certification and the service’s addition to its public Trusted List.
The Verified Person component addresses how a provider establishes and confirms a person’s claimed identity. The certification applies to that component of Facephi’s service at the specified assurance level. It gives organizations procuring identity checks a defined set of criteria against which the service has been assessed.
Under DIACC’s certification process, an accredited auditor examines a service against the framework’s published requirements. DIACC reviews the audit findings before granting a certificate and recording the service in its public registry. Certified providers also undergo annual surveillance audits to maintain their certification, according to the council.
Facephi offers identity-document and biometric verification alongside behavioral signals, fraud detection and compliance screening. Banks, insurers and government agencies can use its checks when enrolling or authenticating people remotely. The Canadian assessment concerns the service’s identity-proofing process, while its other platform functions address related risks at later points in a customer relationship.
Facephi opened a Canadian subsidiary in British Columbia earlier this year as part of its expansion beyond Spain. The company says it holds ISO 27001 information-security certification and a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation in addition to the newly announced Canadian trust-framework result. DIACC says Facephi is a member of the council and serves customers in more than 30 countries, including organizations in regulated sectors. These credentials cover different aspects of its operations and controls.
DIACC has expanded the network supporting assessments under the framework. Fime became its first Quebec-based accredited auditor earlier this year, adding local audit capacity for providers seeking Canadian certification. The framework supplies common criteria for digital identity and authentication services across the country.
DIACC’s Trusted List records the certified service, the Verified Person component and the LOA2 designation. The accompanying certificate and service description give customers a way to check precisely which part of Facephi’s identity-verification offering passed the external assessment.
