The FinovateEurope 2016 conference has concluded, and its organizers have announced the Best of Show winners—and two of the six winners are biometric fintech solutions. IDscan Biometrics was selected for its facial recognition onboarding system, while EyeVerify has been recognized for Eyeprint ID, its eye vein-based authentication platform.
EyeVerify’s solution has proved to be particularly applicable to the growing mCommerce market. Eyeprint ID scans for patterns in the vein structure visible in a user’s eyes, also scanning other features to provide a more comprehensive basis of identification; and it can do so using a standard smartphone camera, meaning it offers reliable biometric authentication on millions of devices and for a wide range of apps and other software.
It’s a system that has started to generate considerable excitement in the financial services community, having attracted a lot of attention at last autumn’s Money20/20 conference. And now that financial services organizations are starting to see a proliferation of mobile payments and banking solutions, this technology could be seen as crucial in helping to secure users’ data and transactions.
The crowds at FinovateEurope certainly seem to have been on board; the Best of Show awards are bestowed based on votes from the conference’s 1,500 attendees.
