EyeVerify has launched a new version of its Eyeprint ID iOS app, and is highlighting improvements to its liveness detection capability.
Eyeprint ID is mobile software enabling eye vein patern recognition, allowing for sophisticated biometric identification and authentication on a standard smartphone. With its lack of need for any special hardware, the system has generated considerable excitement in FinTech circles, and ultimately led to EyeVerify’s acquisition by Alipay operator Ant Financial.
Now, it’s even better with improvements in its ability to detect spoofing. EyeVerify says it has expanded the number of algorithms used in the system, and has developed means of detecting what it calls “dynamic signals” from a biometric scan that can be used to detect liveness without the need for the user to perform specific actions.
While the company has not revealed specific details about how exactly that works, the refinement is a propitious sign of EyeVerify’s continuing technological progress, which should build further momentum as the company expands its R&D roster and continues to grow with the backing of Ant Financial.
