EyeVerify has received FIDO certification for its Eyeprint ID technology, the company has announced. The company’s flagship mobile biometric authentication platform is now compliant with the FIDO 1.0 UAF (Universal Authentication Framework) standard.
The certification opens up a number of possibilities, as it verifies that Eyeprint ID is compatible with a wide range of other FIDO Certified products and services. That could help the system to expand its presence and reach new markets and sectors. Commenting on the FIDO certification in a statement, EyeVerify EVP Chris Barnett said the company is “excited about the opportunities that FIDO Alliance Certification brings to our clients”, adding that it will ultimately help customers to escape “the painful and risky task of password management.”
The FIDO Certification comes at a particularly opportune time for EyeVerify. The company proved to be a huge draw at last fall’s Money20/20 conference, and the company has since been invited to discuss its eye vein-based biometric authentication technology at this year’s FinovateEurope in February. Moreover, the company says it has just reach the two million mark for Eyeprint ID enrolment, crediting its growth in large part to major integrations and partnerships. Now, with FIDO Certification, even more doors are going to open to the technology, which could allow it to make an even bigger splash in 2016.
