EyeLock Releases Iris-Based Access Control System

Iris biometrics company EyeLock has a new access control product on the market. The nanoNXT is now available for companies of all sizes looking for a user-friendly, affordable, and accurate system.

That last quality is worth emphasizing: EyeLock’s technology boasts of a false accept rate of 1 in 1.5 million for only a single iris. The company says the technology is more accurate than any other biometric modality short of DNA. Moreover, the system is capable of authenticating individuals even when they’re in motion, or at a distance. Its on-board memory is capable of ‘remembering’ as many as 20,000 users, while it can process up to 20 individuals per minute. As such, it’s a comprehensive key/fob/card replacement for almost any size of organization.

The company shouldn’t have too much trouble garnering interest in its latest product, given some of its high-profile biometrics products from earlier this year. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, EyeLock was showing off the FIDO-certified security of its iris scanning laptop, and later that month it engineered a high-profile marketing stunt that saw its iris-scanning technology embedded in a 3D-printed car. With demand for such technology on the rise in the access control market, nanoNXT will likely prove popular.
