EyeLock is targeting the Asian market through a new partnership with the Marubeni Corporation, and specifically with the Marubeni America and Marubeni Metals subsidiaries. Marubeni will first distribute EyeLock’s various physical access control solutions to its partners in Japan, before branching out to the rest of Asia and other parts of the world.
The new arrangement will feature EyeLock’s nano NXT and EXT products, which can identify as many as 20 people per minute in a wide range of environmental conditions. EyeLock is hoping that the partnership will raise its profile with Marubeni’s existing clientele.
“We see a significant opportunity in the growing biometric market with EyeLock leading the way with their advanced iris authentication technology,” said Marubeni Metals President Hiroyuki Nishida.
“Marubeni’s extensive connections in several industries, such as automotive, financial and construction, will create a substantial demand for our technology in the marketplace,” added EyeLock CEO Jeff Carter. “The agreement builds on years of working with Marubeni to bring our next-generation imager/lens to the embedded security market.”
The news comes shortly after EyeLock teamed up with Integral Technology Solutions to extend its reach in the life sciences industry. Earlier this year, SiriusXM leveraged the company’s technology to enable iris-based payments with its new in-car mobile wallet.
