“In addition to its biometric technology, the Smart Rear View Mirror platform also features the kind of 360-degree HD recording that 360fly is known for…”
A partnership with action camera specialist 360fly is aimed at bringing EyeLock‘s biometric technology to police cars.
The companies have collaborated on a new ‘Smart Rear View Mirror’ solution that features a built-in iris recognition system. That means a given cop car and its internal IT equipment can be configured to only activate for authorized personnel, ensuring that they can’t fall into the wrong hands. It also allows for enhanced fleet management and time and attendance tracking for administrators.
In addition to its biometric technology, the Smart Rear View Mirror platform also features the kind of 360-degree HD recording that 360fly is known for, as well as a forward-facing computer vision system that features license plate recognition, further enhancing the policing capabilities of an outfitted cop car.
It could prove to be an eye-catching solution at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, where EyeLock and 360fly are showcasing it on the show floor and where biometric technologies have increasingly captured audience attention over the years. And for any police officers who happen to be in attendance, it could prove a particularly arresting solution.
