EY Identity (EYI), a division of EY specializing in cybersecurity services, has announced its acquisition of J Group Consulting, a Melbourne-based company known for its expertise in privileged access management (PAM) and cybersecurity consulting. The acquisition was officially confirmed on November 25, 2024.
EY Identity’s strategic acquisition of J Group Consulting aims to enhance its capabilities in PAM and cybersecurity consulting. The move is part of EYI’s broader strategy to strengthen its identity management services, enabling the company to better serve its clients in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape. The acquisition comes during a period of significant activity in the identity technology sector.
“Our focus has always been on helping clients succeed in an increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape,” said J Group Consulting Founder Joel Harris. “Joining EYI marks an exciting evolution of what we’ve built, enabling us to take the strengths we already have and grow them further within EYI.”
In addition to joining EYI, Harris will be part of the Ernst & Young Australia partnership, with a team of 20 staffers based primarily in Melbourne and Sydney. The team will serve clients across the Oceania region.
The integration of J Group Consulting is expected to significantly bolster EYI’s PAM capabilities. With J Group Consulting’s specialized expertise in managing privileged access, EYI will be able to offer more comprehensive and robust PAM solutions. This enhancement is crucial for ensuring the security of sensitive systems and data, ultimately improving the overall cybersecurity posture of EYI’s clients.
