Global data and analytics giant Experian has acquired KYC360, a regulatory technology (RegTech) provider, to significantly enhance its fraud and financial crime solutions across the UK and Ireland. The deal is a direct response to mounting regulatory pressures and an industry-wide need for streamlined financial compliance.
The acquisition’s core is a platform integration. KYC360’s Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM) solutions are set to be embedded directly into Experian’s Ascend platform, with the new capabilities anticipated to be available to clients starting next year. This will fold KYC360’s advanced Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) technology into Experian’s existing risk management portfolio. The technology automates onboarding, screening, and ongoing monitoring functions.
This move exemplifies the “platform-ization” of compliance, where standalone KYC/AML point solutions are being absorbed by global data providers. Experian has been actively expanding its fraud prevention capabilities through strategic partnerships, shifting from being just a data vendor to selling a complete, automated compliance solution. This strategy makes the Ascend platform stickier for financial institutions, allowing them to access both Experian’s data and KYC360’s compliance workflow from a single vendor. This unified offering directly addresses the rising operational costs of compliance by offering banks a way to automate and streamline their processes.
Malin Holmberg, CEO of Experian UK&I, noted that the acquisition “significantly boosts our capabilities, allowing us to deliver even greater value to our clients”. KYC360 founder and CEO Stephen Platt added that the partnership “provides a tremendous opportunity to drive innovation in the fight against financial crime”.
