There’s plenty of variety in this week’s roundup of FindBiometrics’ top stories, but if there is a common theme, it might be expansion.
Onfido, for example, is extending its market reach through a new partnership with Deliveroo. The latter is considered a tech unicorn of the UK, offering a growing food delivery platform that will now use Onfido’s selfie-based biometric authentication technology to verify the identities of new drivers:

Meanwhile, NEC is expanding its reach into the digital finance sector through the acquisition of Avaloq, a Swiss multinational digital banking and wealth management company. The acquisition will “further enlarge [Avaloq’s] geographical footprint across the globe,” according to the latter firm’s CEO, and will help NEC’s biometric and AI technologies to reach new end users:

A lot of readers also showed interest this week in the news that CLEAR is looking to extend the capabilities of its Health Pass immunity credential app through a partnership with LabCorp. End users are now able to link their Health Pass profile directly to the latter’s patient account platform, which means some will be able to share the results of their COVID-19 tests:

Then there was some IDEMIA news that isn’t so much about expansion as it is about acceleration. This week the company launched its new Global Fintech Accelerator Card Program, which is designed to help its partners speed up the development and deployment of their various card products, including biometric payment cards:
