eu-LISA has extended the deadline for submitting proposals for the upcoming eu-LISA Industry Roundtable, in response to high demand for participation. The new deadline for submissions is now set for October 7, 2024, at 12:00 CET.
The extension allows more companies and organizations to propose innovative solutions aimed at addressing pressing operational challenges within the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) domain, particularly in areas like data analysis, risk management, and biometric-based identity fraud detection. The Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) domain encompasses EU policies and operations related to law enforcement, border control, migration, asylum, and judicial cooperation, aimed at ensuring security, freedom, and justice within the European Union.
The eu-LISA Industry Roundtable, scheduled for November 12-13, 2024, in Budapest, Hungary, will focus on artificial intelligence applications in the public sector, including border control, law enforcement, and judicial operations. Organized in collaboration with the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the event presents a platform for industry experts to discuss and propose solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing authorities in the JHA domain.
The roundtable will also cover the implications of the EU’s newly implemented AI Act, which has introduced regulations for AI usage, particularly in high-risk areas like security and migration.
Proposals for the roundtable will be evaluated on three key criteria: relevance to the event, innovation, and quality. Each proposal will be independently reviewed by a panel of experts, who will assign scores to each submission based on these criteria. After the evaluations, a consensus meeting will be held to finalize the ranking, and the top proposals in each category will be selected for presentation. While multiple submissions are allowed, only the proposal with the highest score from each company will be chosen for presentation.
Participants are encouraged to provide a detailed description of their company and the technology or service they wish to present. This could include solutions aimed at enhancing biometric recognition, improving AI-based risk management systems, or addressing identity fraud. “We are seeking solutions that solve real-world challenges, from data analysis and risk management to biometric-based identity fraud detection,” eu-LISA said in an online post.
Additional supporting materials can be attached to submissions to further strengthen their chances of selection, though these will not be independently evaluated.
