Elyctis has expanded its identity portfolio with the release of the ID BOX One 152. The USB-powered desktop device will facilitate a self-serve identification process, allowing people to confirm their identities without handing their identity documents to another individual.
In that regard, Elyctis argues that the 152 is comparable to the PIN and contactless payment terminals that have become commonplace in the past few years. The BOX has RFID and MRZ reading capabilities, and is compatible with modern eIDs like passports and driver’s licenses. The device also comes with a built-in fingerprint scanner for situations in which biometric authentication is required.
“With the ID BOX One 152, citizens are ensured their ID document remains in their sight during the whole transaction,” said Elyctis CEO Alexandre Joly. “This way the general public is as comfortable when their ID is checked as when they are making a payment transaction with their banking card.”
The ID BOX One 152 comes with a Security Access Module (SAM) slot to store Extended Access Control certificates. Elytics was motivated to add a fingerprint scanner after a previous version of the ID BOX One was used to read voter ID documents during elections in Kyrgyzstan. The new tech will provide administrators with a more comprehensive system that can be used to facilitate a fully biometric voting process in the future.
