DigitalPersona announced yesterday that it will make its newest low cost and compact biometric solutions, the U.areU 5200 FAP 20 fingerprint module and the U.are.U 5300 FAP 30 module and reader, available to the market in Q1 2014. Both modules are PIV-certified and are targeted at government, finance and healthcare markets.
Featuring a large active reading window, the biometric solutions provider cites field experience and standards as driving the demand for these new modules: the NIST Mobile ID Fingerprint Acquisition Profile standards specify active capture dimensions that the U.are.U reading area allows for.
DigitalPersona has been in the news recently for focusing on the verticals with its solutions like the U.are.U modules, last week acquiring Identity Stream to give it a stronger foothold in the biometric banking market.
The U.are.U 5200 is on display at stand F240 at the Biometrics Exhibition and Conference 2013 in London, which is ending today.
