FaceTec has announced a new addition to its executive team—and he is poised to be a key figure in the company’s efforts to expand into the digital and mobile ID space.
Geoff Slagle, FaceTec’s new Executive VP of Digital Identity, comes to the firm from a previous position as President and Chief Business Development Officer for the Sweden-based mobile ID company Scytáles, a role he held from September of 2022 until last month.
Before that, he spent 12 years service as Director of Identity Management for the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, a non-profit trade organization. In that role, he oversaw collaborative work with North American motor vehicle agencies and other government bodies that concerned the evolution of driver credentials, identity proofing, biometrics, and other identity and security considerations in the space.
Also worth noting is Slagle’s earlier career as a Functional Analyst and Project Manager for Automation Research Systems, a contractor to the State Department and Department of Defense.
Now, his role with FaceTec will be to serve as a key ambassador and advocate of the company’s 3D face verification software, which FaceTec has established as a leading set of liveness and authentication solutions.
“Geoff brings a deep understanding of the needs of Issuing Authorities around the world with regard to Digital Identity, and we are thrilled for him to lead the education and adoption of our class-leading 3D Liveness and Face Verification software in this space,” said FaceTec CEO Kevin Alan Tussy. “With our continuing growth in official identity verification use cases, where the best, high-confidence, no-bias, biometric identity verification software is required, Geoff’s expertise will add value to our customers, partners, and important industry relationships.”
Slagle’s efforts will be helped along by the sophistication of FaceTec’s technology, which has continued to attract brisk business. Its platform can generate unphishable 3D FaceMaps using the standard 2D cameras found in smartphones and computers, and in terms of accuracy it offers a 1-in-125 million False Acceptance Rate at a False Rejection Rate of less than one percent.
Its liveness technology, meanwhile, has proven resilient in the fight against spoofing attacks. FaceTec uniquely offers a Spoof Bounty Program offering up to $600,000 in payouts to successful hackers, and it hasn’t paid out a penny in three-and-a-half years.
For his part, Slagle called FaceTec “the undisputed leader in 3D face authentication”, adding that he was excited to work with the team. “FaceTec’s advanced identity technology has become a major contributor to the increasing use of highly successful biometric user verification solutions around the world, binding real humans to their digital lives,” he said.
Slagel’s appointment comes after FaceTec’s appointment of Manos Mavrikos as its new VP of Global Customer & Partner Success earlier this year.
